Free Film Screening at Mardi Gras in downtown Warren, PA

The Boonies Film Festival presents "Goliath" an unusual comedy about an important cat at 7 p.m. Friday at Mardi Gras restaurant. The comedy has been showcased at multiple film festivals around the country and on the IFC Channel too.

Local recording star Matt Maloof provides free music after the show and there is even talk of free food, too. The entire thing is free, did I say "free?",  to promote the Boonies Flim Festival to be held in Warren, PA this summer from August 17 through August 20. Maybe this will make February more tolerable. I could use a few laughs. Thanks, Boonies!

Things get started at 7 p.m., but the restaurant at 344 Pennsylvania Avenue, near the point in downtown Warren, PA, opens at 5 p.m.

ANNOUNCES 50/50 FUNDRAISER

WARREN, Pa., ( November 30, 2009) – Need extra cash for the upcoming Christmas holiday? You are in luck! Members of The Boonies International of Warren Film Festival Group are now selling tickets for a 50/50 drawing, to be held on December 18, just in time for you to wrap up your holiday shopping!

Tickets for the 50/50 drawing are $5 each and can be purchased in Warren directly from Boonies volunteers or at

Authors, Books and Music, on Liberty Street

Crone’s, on Liberty Street

Warren United News, on Second Avenue at the Point

 

 “The largest portion of the proceeds from the drawing will be used towards the Boonies Web site construction, which is underway,” Clark explained. Our target launch date is January 1, 2010.  In addition, 7.5% of the proceeds will be donated to The Allegheny Center for the Arts, and 7.5% to an account for a Boonies Education Scholarship Fund.”

The 50/50 drawing will take place at the GRO-Warren office/gallery on December 18^th at noon. The public is invited to attend, though you need not be present to win.

In other news about the 5-day International Film Festival to be held in Warren, August 23-27, 2011, Joey Roy, Festival Manager said, “The Boonies Group is in the process of becoming a 501c3, (a non-profit organization) and is working with GRO-Warren, the Regional Arts Council and WCCBI.”

 

Roy added, “We had a great turnout for our first volunteer meeting on November 15th. In the new year, we will hold more public meetings for others in the community who want to learn about the International Film Festival and/or get involved. A separate meeting will be held with regional businesses to discuss the Festival as it may apply to them. Details will be published in the near future.”

He also adds that people from out of town are also eligible to win the big cash prize, but you'll have to work a little harder to get a ticket. They are not accepting checks, but you can send money orders to:
