Some members of the local Allegheny Center for the Arts have expressed interest in using photos from theAllegheny.com and Allegheny Almanac for a fund raiser in a book they could promote and market. This would only work if the submissions are donations. The sampling of submissions above are Copyright by the individual photographers and may not be reproduced without their express permission.
Photographers are asked to submit hi-res jpegs. If you have already published at theallegheny.com or Allegheny Almanac, just reference the url where it appears.
It is important to note that all photos on these web sites are the property of the photographers who took them and no photos will be used without the express consent of each photographer. To accomplish this I am contacting each photographer to obtain consent for a one-time publication in a book tentatively titled, 'Allegheny Almanac."
A lot of work and energy and time has gone into these photos and we want to make sure that your donation of your work gets proper credit. To accomplish this, each photo accepted for publication will be accompanied by a full Copyright credit to your name with the year the photo was taken. In addition, we would like to include information on how you can be contacted should an entity have an interest in re-publishing your photo.
If desired, this information can be left out, in which case the book itself would hold the one-time copyright in stewardship for you. Some amateur photographers do not require publicity but still would like to participate and we respect this point of view.
The current plan is to make a book of about 100 photos or as many as our supporters are interested in funding. Distribution of the book has not yet been determined. Contributors will receive a copy of the book. All profits, if any, will go to a non-profit organization not connected to me, which at this time looks like the Allegheny Center for the Arts.
I believe that your past contribution to these websites has done a lot to further the goals of this area and photography in general. I hope this has been a rewarding experience for you and that if you choose to submit to the book that your work will continue to benefit you and the area.
All contributors will retain the right to withdraw their submission(s) should the final proof of the book not meet their expectations. Around here, we want everyone to be a happy camper.
If you have any questions or concerns, please contact me. Your input will make this a better book.
Sincerely,
Chris Lareau
