My Opinion
Can a 72-year-old run our country? The answer may be yes if McCain's choice for Vice President is an indication of what his presidency may be like. Sarah Palin, the freshman governor of Alaska, is a newcomer to the political world which qualifies her to bring new ideas to Washington which are desperately needed to turn our country around in the midst of repeated failures by an entrenched political culture that appears to only want to line the pockets of the super-rich.
A recent series of tasteless negative ads run by the McCain campaign suggested that the oldest person ever to run for President may have lost control of his campaign and only served as a figure-head to ideological interests. But now, McCain appears to have put his foot down and firmly grasped the strategy of running for office. We all know that McCain built his career on being a maverick but recent developments had suggested that he had sold out to the failed policies of Bush operatives. The choice of an unknown person for Vice President shows he still has the ability to think outside the box our country is currently trapped in.
I would like to write that "Mac is Back" which I sincerely hope is the case, but I withhold it for now. I want to wait and see if he has actually taken control of the Republican Party and established the leadership we all know he wants to provide but up until now has been sorely lacking. The first thing he should do is get rid of the Carl Rove operatives who have taken over his campaign and continue to purge his organization of professional lobbyists who only bleed the taxpayer and put their own special interests ahead of the country's.
It is possible for him to do this with a person of the caliber of Sarah Palin. She knows how to stand up to big oil interests, how to stop a pork barrel project like the Alaskan "bridge to nowhere" and how to defeat a political establishment that cares only to hold on to its power. Some may say McCain is now putting more emphasis on judgment rather than experience. It's about time.
It's not just America that needs change. The Republican Party needs it too. A firebrand like Palin may be just the person to tell the good old boys in the GOP who are running things now that they need to either follow or get out of the way. There is still time to turn the Republican campaign around, to let common sense, instead of greed, prevail. America is tired of getting trickled on by the super-rich and their servants in Washington. What good is it to be pro-business if it ends up hurting our country?

this is just the tip of the iceburg of the hack job they're trying to do to the McCain/Palin ticket.Mostly they're focusing on lies and rumors about Palin because she has given the ticket enthusiasm. So the more McCain picks up in the polls the more rumor and lies you'll get about Palin.
I know for a FACT that John McCain has fought hard against wasteful spending, pork barrel and earmarks in Washington.
I know for a fact that any man who stood up for his counry like he did as a pow has a love of country that runs far deeper than Obama's i gotta win this election at all costs.Sen McCain was even willing to lose the election rather than lose the war-that position could have cost him the election.Whether you agree with John's position on the war or not you have to know that a man who would stand up for his country like that is worthy of the office of Pres.
Be honest-before Obama threw his hat in the ring to win the nom of his party did you even know who this guy was?
I never heard of him and now he's running for the highest office in the United States. That is just insane.
Sorry.He's a Chicago politician.End of story.
Palin had an 80% approval rating in her state.Few gov even get that close. She must have done something right.
She's got us enthused and between her and Sen McCain are a breathe of fresh air.Looking forward to the debates!!
Obama is nothing but speeches and rhetoric.McCain may not be the best speech giver but his actions have always spoken louder than words. He'll get things done.
Obama is not to be trusted. He's a smooth talker.

1. According to a recent article put up by Catholics for Obama Palin insulted Catholics.I'm Catholic. No she did not.Just the same tactics from the Obama campaign to win at all costs.Even integrity.
2.Liberal bloggers are pointing out how Palin has changed denominations several times. Whoopie. This is a big story?
3.Palin's daugther is pregant and Ms Palin supports abstinance only so this makes her a terrible mother.Nope.This makes her a terrific mother who like most mothers out there stand by their kids with unconditional love and support.Nice try but it's irrelevant to being VP anyway.
4. She won't make a good mother because she'll be tied up as VP.And she won't be a good VP because she's a mother.Ok.So which is it?
BTW.Joe BIden has 3 kids.Ask him this question.
5.Palin has been a registered Republican since 1982. There is no record of her ever being a member of the AIP, or any party but the GOP. Palin’s husband has been a member of the AIP in the past, but since 2002 has been a registered independent.
6.While mayor of Wasilla, Palin wore a Buchanan button during the sometimes presidential candidate’s 1999 visit. But Palin actually supported Steve Forbes in 2000, and served as a co-chair on his Alaska campaign.
In the weeks after the 1999 report of her wearing the Buchanan button, Palin said: “When presidential candidates visit our community, I am always happy to meet them. I’ll even put on their button when handed one as a polite gesture of respect. … The article may have left your readers with the perception that I am endorsing this candidate, as opposed to welcoming his visit to Wasilla.”
7.Palin said during her 2006 gubernatorial campaign that she would not push the state Board of Education to add creation-based alternatives to the state’s required curriculum, or look for creationism advocates when she appointed board members. She has kept this pledge, according to the Associated Press.
Palin has spoken in favor of classroom discussions of creationism, in some cases. “I don’t think there should be a prohibition against debate if it comes up in class. It doesn’t have to be part of the curriculum,” Palin told the Anchorage Daily News in a 2006 interview.

Are you crazy? Stop pandering to the Republicans; we already have an ultra conservative newspaper in Warren. Ironically, Palin was for the bridge to nowhere before she was against it. Aside from her sex and inexperience she's hardly a "maverick" choice for the GOP. In fact she appeals more to right wing conservatives for her far right stance on abortion, creationism and drilling rights than she does to Independents and moderates. She won her mayoral position with help from an outside national agency pushing her pro-life agenda and has only been Governor for 18 months. She makes Obama look like FDR by comparison. She's under ethics investigation and she called Hillary a whiner during the primaries and according to one interview her mother-in-law isn't sure she'll vote for her. What exactly is exciting or effective about all that except that the chatter puts the cameras back on Mac??????
By the way, where's the other awesome speeches that could posted on your website??? Michelle's moved me to tears even the second time around and even Pat Buchanan said Barack's was the best convention speech he'd ever heard.
