Architect for New England Patriots speaks in support of project
Architect Peter Sollugub
The legendary New England Patriots will become even more legendary this fall when their hall of fame opens at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Mass. And fans may have architect Peter Sollugub to thank when they visit. He was the primary designer for the project. Sollugub will be on hand today at 1 p.m. in Warren at the Conewango Club to talk about his latest project, The Allegheny Musarium.

For Sollugub, honoring the Patriots was an inspiring job. “They wanted this museum to be a first of its kind,” Sollogub said. “They wanted it to be reflective of the team and to honor the players and capture the imagination and hearts of the fans," he told The Providence Journal. He said the team's owners "did not want a graveyard but something that pushed the envelope using technology as the vehicle. We took their ideas to develop something not that was flat and traditional, but had a lot of motion. It allows for continual growth and change.”
While a football hall of fame is a far cry from the aquarium and museum proposed for a Starbrick, PA location, the architect, a featured designer for HGTV, is not without experience for this kind of enterprise. His firm has helped develop and design such projects as the National Fish and Wildlife Aquarium in Springfield, Missouri, the New England Aquarium in Boston, the Baltimore Aquarium, and even The Scientific Center in Kuwait as well as many others.
How can a small town like Warren absorb such an undertaking? Through green design, according to his firm's web site. "On every project designers work with a sensitivity to site, a responsiveness to the natural world, an economical and innovative approach to sustainable materials, and a concern for the larger community, to create buildings that enhance our world," it states.
Sollugub will talk at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, June 3 at the Conewango Club on Market Street in Warren. For more information call The Allegheny Musarium Association at 723-3002 or 726-0837.
